Yes, Skatecastle is open for business. Every Wednesday is adult night. Many of the people come every week from places as far away as Ames, Aplington, Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. You only drive that distance if you have an enjoyable evening. Very friendly customers and staff as well. It's a fun, athletic weekly event for us. Check it out - I think you will enjoy yourself also. Highly recommended!
The rink surface is pretty good but the roof leaks real bad and there is severe water damage to the ceiling tiles. Some tiles are even gone all together. The supervision of the rink really bad. Kids are on the floor in their stocking feet and constantly getting in the way of the skaters. The music is not ran very smooth either. leaving big gaps in between songs. A lot of gansta style music is played and its just not an enjoyable place for adults who like to skate. The place is dirty and I dont know how they can get away with serving food. I love to skate and we traveled 3 hours to skate at the Castle and were really disappointed both times we went
I cannot ' rate ' your facility , as I have not even had the OPPORTUNITY to skate there !! ITS ALWAYS CLOSED. SHAME ON THAT>I am used to skating ONCE A WEEK. Every week.. I find it sad and does not make sense to me that a skating rink is CLOSED for summer ??? Kids are not out doing all kinds of other stuff.. Not all the time. Skating is a big business when it is properly PROMOTED and MARKETED> especially for kids and teens. They are NOT all "Out camping & fishing" , just because its summer!! I am an adult ( over 40 ) and miss my skating.. to find out its available ONCE A MONTH for ADULTS.. that is not good business. I skated every week, on Sunday nights, it was the Adult Skate night. I had the pleasure of speaking w/ a nice gentleman who told me that July 2oth was the next skate. I call to make sure...; And I get a recording saying its CLOSED (???) for rest of summer.(???!!!) HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING> especially in a smaller town where people want to exercise OUT OF THE HEAT
